Terms of Service

Last updated October 4, 2026 · Effective immediately

Please read these terms carefully before using RockHound-GO. They govern your use of the platform and contain important information about your rights and responsibilities.

By creating an account or using RockHound-GO ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These terms apply to all users including free, premium, and child accounts managed by parents. We may update these terms with 30 days' notice for material changes. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

You must be 13 or older to create an account. Users under 18 require parental consent. Parents creating child accounts via the Parental Dashboard take full responsibility for their child's activity. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of unauthorized access at support@rockhoundgo.com.

You agree NOT to: • Post false or misleading location data, mineral identifications, or trade listings • Harass, threaten, or harm other community members • Use the app to facilitate illegal collecting on protected or private land • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit app data without written permission • Create fake accounts or manipulate XP/leaderboard systems • Post content that is illegal, harmful, or violates third-party rights Violations may result in immediate account suspension or termination without refund.

Content you post (discovery photos, location reviews, trade listings, forum posts) remains yours. By posting, you grant RockHound-GO a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and use that content within the app and for promotional purposes. You represent that you have rights to all content you post and that it doesn't violate any third-party rights or laws. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms or our Community Guidelines without notice.

RockHound-GO provides informational tools including legality scoring, land status data, and permit information. This data is community-sourced and AI-assisted and is NOT legal advice. You are solely responsible for verifying the legality of collecting at any location before visiting. Laws vary by jurisdiction and land status changes. Always verify with the relevant land management agency (BLM, USFS, NPS, state, etc.). RockHound-GO assumes no liability for citations, fines, or legal consequences arising from collecting activity.

RockHound-GO offers both free and premium subscription tiers (e.g., Trail Scout, Crystal Pro, Expedition Elite). Premium subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via our payment processor, Stripe. The current price for each tier is displayed on the Pricing page and at checkout before you confirm a purchase. Billing Cycle. Your subscription begins on the date your payment is confirmed and renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually, depending on your selection) until you cancel. Annual subscribers are billed the full annual amount upfront. Cancellations. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the Subscription Management page or by contacting billing@rockhoundgo.com. Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain premium access until then. No further charges occur after cancellation. Refunds. Subscription payments are non-refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact billing@rockhoundgo.com within 30 days of the charge. Free Trials and Introductory Offers. If we offer a free trial or promotional pricing, the trial converts automatically to a paid subscription at the standard rate unless you cancel before the trial ends. You will see the trial duration and conversion price before opting in. Price Changes. We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Any price change applies to your next billing cycle following the notice period; continuing to use the paid service after the notice constitutes acceptance of the new price. Payment Security. All payment processing is handled by Stripe; RockHound-GO does not store or transmit your full card number. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your payment method for all fees incurred under your account. Taxes. Applicable taxes (e.g., sales tax, VAT) are added to your subscription price where required by law and displayed at checkout.

The Trade Board and Marketplace are peer-to-peer platforms. RockHound-GO is not a party to any transaction between users. We do not guarantee the accuracy of listings, condition of specimens, or completion of trades. Users transact at their own risk. We recommend meeting in public places for local exchanges and using tracked shipping for mail trades. Disputes between users must be resolved between the parties directly. Fraudulent listings should be reported via the in-app flag system.

AI identification, valuation estimates, mineral predictions, weather reports, and other AI-generated content are provided for informational purposes only. AI identification is not a substitute for expert mineralogical analysis. Valuation estimates are not professional appraisals. Weather and safety data should not replace checking official sources before field trips. We make no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for purpose of AI-generated content.

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ROCKHOUND-GO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP, INCLUDING PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR LOST PROFITS. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or your use of the App shall be resolved by binding arbitration under JAMS rules, not in court, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property claims. You waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits against RockHound-GO.
